Inspiring Retirees Honoured at KWAP’s Anugerah MyPesara 2025

Awards ceremony among highlights of three-day Karnival MyPesara in Kota Bharu;new AI support chatbot unveiled

KOTA BHARU, 16 November 2025 – Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP], in collaboration with the Public Service Department (JPA), honoured Malaysia’s most inspiring pensioners through the Anugerah MyPesara 2025, one of the key highlights of the Karnival MyPesara 2025.

Held from 14 to 16 November at Mydin Tunjong, Kota Bharu, the three-day carnival drew thousands of pensioners, future pensioners, and members of the public from Kelantan and the East Coast. The event featured a wide range of activities promoting active ageing, financial empowerment, and community well-being, in line with the MADANI principle of Rakyat Disantuni.

The carnival also served as a platform to introduce KWAP’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot, “KIAH”, short for “KWAP Is Always Here”. The friendly, bilingual chatbot offers pensioners convenient access to information on pensions, benefits, and retirement programmes. Available from January 2026 on KWAP’s official website and the MyPesara mobile app, visitors at the carnival were among the first to experience a live demonstration of KIAH.

KWAP Chief Executive Officer, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Hajah Nik Amlizan Mohamed, commented, “Karnival MyPesara is one of KWAP’s most meaningful initiatives as it allows us to connect directly with pensioners across the country. Each year, we take the carnival to a different region to ensure everyone feels included. The strong turnout and inspiring stories reaffirm the importance of staying engaged with them while supporting their well-being.”

The Anugerah MyPesara 2025, a key highlight of this year’s carnival, is the first award of its kind established to honour public-sector pensioners who have made a positive impact on their communities in the fields of Education, Social and Community Service, or Entrepreneurship.

The Anugerah MyPesara 2025 ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Mohd Shahrim bin Hussin, Director of the Pensions Division, Public Service Department (JPA), and attended by government representatives, key partners, and members of the retiree community.

This year’s Grand Prize Winner was Wan Noriah binti Wan Ramli from the Social and Community Service category. As founder of Min House Camp, an eco-tourism and training centre in Kelantan, she empowers B40 communities and persons with disabilities (PWDs) through programmes in environmental education and sustainable farming. The centre has become a national model for inclusive, community-based development, combining livelihood creation with environmental stewardship.

In the Entrepreneurship category, Dr. Abas Mazni bin Othman, founder of The Plot, was recognised for building a modern agrotourism park that integrates research, innovation, and sustainability. His work nurtures eco-based enterprises and provides practical training for young agropreneurs.

The Education category honoured Professor Emeritus Dr. Mohamad Mokhtar bin Abu Hassan, a literary scholar whose lifelong dedication to advancing Malay literature continues to influence academic and cultural discourse in Malaysia and beyond.

YBhg. Datuk Hajah Nik Amlizan added, “The Anugerah MyPesara holds a special place for us as it celebrates pensioners who continue to contribute to society and the economy through entrepreneurship, education, and community service. Their achievements show that retirement is not an ending, but a new chapter filled with purpose and productive ageing. We hope their spirit will inspire others, as KWAP continues to uplift the retiree community and encourage greater participation of older Malaysians in nation-building, in line with the principles of MADANI.”

The Grand Prize Winner received RM50,000, a trophy, and a certificate, while Category Winners each received RM10,000, a trophy, and a certificate. Twelve consolation recipients also took home RM3,000, a trophy, and a certificate.

As reflected through initiatives such as Anugerah MyPesara and digital tools like KIAH, KWAP continues to embody its Purpose Beyond Returns philosophy – enriching the lives of pensioners and ensuring they remain connected, valued, and supported.
