A collaborative effort with MAINPP and KWEST to strengthen social protection and enhance quality of life for retirees
<\/em><\/p>

Permatang Pauh, 8 November 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP] is taking a proactive step to address the needs of Malaysia\u2019s ageing population through the development of a Retirement-Oriented Development (ROD) pilot project in Kepala Batas, Penang, in collaboration with the Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Pulau Pinang (MAINPP) and KWEST Sdn. Bhd., KWAP\u2019s property development arm.<\/p>

Announced by YAB Dato\u2019 Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, the initiative under Belanjawan 2026 reflects KWAP\u2019s commitment to advancing national well-being in line with the principles of the MADANI Economy, through investments that deliver both financial and social value.<\/p>

The pilot project will be developed on an approximately 10-acre Baitulmal land owned by MAINPP, marking a new partnership model between institutional investors and state councils to support sustainable community development. KWEST will serve as the development manager, overseeing project planning and implementation on behalf of KWAP.<\/p>

Designed with affordability and flexibility in mind, the independent living concept offers lease options and curated programmes with MAINPP that enrich retirees\u2019 lives through continuous learning and social engagement. Open to the public but prioritising pensioners, it forms part of KWAP\u2019s ongoing effort to build an inclusive and thriving silver economy.<\/p>

KWAP\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Hajah Nik Amlizan Mohamed said, \u201cThis initiative demonstrates KWAP\u2019s commitment to advancing the national agenda under the MADANI Economy by delivering investments that create both financial and social value. Through this pilot project, we are translating policy into tangible impact \u2013 supporting Malaysia\u2019s ageing population.\u201d<\/p>

This pilot project forms part of KWAP\u2019s RM300 million allocation announced in Budget 2026 to enable similar developments across Malaysia. KWAP will continue to explore the potential of this model to be replicated in other states, aligning its long-term investment stewardship with efforts to enhance retirement well-being and deliver meaningful value to society under the Purpose Beyond Returns philosophy.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
