Alternative Investment (ALTID)​

The objective of ALTID is invest in alternative investment globally. As a relatively new asset class, ALTID allocation comprise of 15% of KWAP’s investment portfolio. Our investments are driven mainly through real estate activities and private equity investments.
Principal Activities

  • Invests KWAP's fund in private equities via approved private equity funds, co-investments and direct private equity investments. Invests directly in properties.
  • Implement investment activities as approved by the Investment Panel and the Board.
  • Monitor investment activities and evaluate performance of the private equity funds, direct private equity and investment in properties periodically, including attending meetings with fund managers and committees established for the purpose.
  • Report periodically investment activities and performance of private equity funds, direct private equity and properties to the Investment Panel and the Board.
  • Strive to meet targ​eted income for the year on investments under the purview of ALTID.​​​
Private Equity

The Funds

​We have invested in over 22 funds with focus mainly on growth, buyout, infrastructure, secondaries and real estate segments. Our funds investments are spread in the regions of North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia as well as in the emerging markets.

Co-Investments/ Direct Investments

  • We have 3 direct investments that covers financials, energy and consumer goods. These investments are into local Malaysian companies.
  • We will continue to expand and grow our direct investment portfolio by focusing on both local and regional target.
  • In direct and co-investment opportunities we gravitate towards three (3) major sectors i.e., Consumer, healthcare and Education. We look for maturing companies which are in a growth trajectory and on an expansion mode geographically (regional and global).​​​
