initiatives. Below are several initiatives that KWAP will
embark in for the year 2010:

Previous CSR Programs for 2009
| |
01 - Participation in Career Fair |
- Leveraging on its knowledge in pension and fund management,
KWAP participated in a Career Day organized by University
of Malaya in August 2009 with the purpose of uplifting student’s
awareness on the pension and fund management industry in
order to encourage the undergraduate students to explore
the possibilities of joining the industry when they embark
in their career. Over 100 students from the Accounts and
Business Faculty attended the hour long talk presented by
the Head of External Fund Manager, Mr. Ambalagam R. Marappan.
02 - Article Contribution in Daily Newspaper |
- Manage media and stakeholders communication.
- KWAP also contributed articles on a monthly basis
to The Edge Financial Daily editions. The topics covered
ranged from economics, fixed income, equities and risk.
03 - Seminar on Financial Planning for Retirement |
- As one of the core objectives of the CSR Program is
to educate the public on retirement, KWAP organized a Seminar
on Financial Planning for Retirement in October 2009. Fifty
representatives were selected from the Public Services Department,
Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia and Accountant General’s
Department to attend the one day seminar.
| |
04 - Fund Raising Activity and Donation Drive |
- Central to KWAP’s CSR philosophy is employee engagement.
To further encourage involvement of our employees in charity,
activities were held such as jumble sales and donation drives
to raise fund for a worthy cause. The proceeds were used
to furnish and equip the Resource Centre for Sekolah Kebangsaan
Bukit Tampoi (Asli), Dengkil, Selangor. Three of their top
UPSR 2009 students were also be given a token of appreciation
for their academic accomplishment.
| |
05 - Saving The Environment |
- One crucial aspect of our CSR initiative is to establish
a work culture that is environmentally aware and conscientious.
We wish to instill a sense of respect and appreciation for
the environment in each and every individual in KWAP. In
this regard, efforts were made to reduce usage of paper
products and and encourage recycling. Also, to help reduce
carbon pollution, power usage was saved through turning
off the lights and electrical equipment during lunch and
after office hours. To constantly remind employees to play
a part in environment protection, the tagline “Save Cost:
Recycle, Avoid Wastage” was introduced in all electronic
communications.
06 - CSR Committee |
- As a mode of encouragement to instil volunteerism among
employees, the CSR Committee members are elected on a yearly
basis by the Management team. The committee members are
then divided into teams to manage different programs throughout
the year.
